Employment Advisor Service

The Employment Advisor Service is individually tailored to meet the needs of people with stress, anxiety or depression. It helps to identify solutions to work-related issues.

Employment Advisors provide support and guidance to identify solutions to improve work-related concerns and enhance health and wellbeing in the workplace.

Who is the service for?

The service is offered to people who are referred to Lincolnshire Talking Therapies.

During the initial assessment, if employment issues are impacting on the person's mental health, they will be offered the opportunity to speak to an employment advisor.

They may be employed and struggling at work, or absent due to sickness or work related issues. The service is also open to those who are unemployed who feel they would benefit from individual and if appropriate, group support, to explore their current work situation. The service can help people to overcome the barriers to accessing employment.

Employment Advisors can:

  • Talk to you about your job and specific issues affecting you at work.
  • Help you to plan options and understand how they might work in practice.
  • Help you to think about returning to work if you are off sick.
  • Help you to think about what needs to change and what support you will need.
  • Provide advice, support and guidance in respect of difficulties at work.
  • Work alongside Occupational Health and/or Human Resources.
  • Identify other suitable organisations which provide employment-related advice.
  • Stay in touch with you during the early stages of your return to work or implementing your plan.

Employment advisors support the person and sometimes the employer to make some reasonable adjustments. These can help manage and improve a person’s mental health at work. If the situation cannot be resolved, we can also support a person to find other employment or be ready for change when they feel the time is right.

Our team can also help you to find new employment. They can:

  • Help you to identify your employment goals by utilising your transferable skills and experiences.
  • Help you to build a CV and carry out a job search.
  • Help you to complete job applications and enhance your interview skills.
  • Help you to overcome the common barriers when commencing and or returning to employment.
